Olfactory cues in foraging and recognition

I’m interested in how animals utilise olfactory information during tasks such as foraging, communication and recognition.

I’m investigating how penguins and seals potentially use different environmental scents to identify and locate profitable foraging areas, and how this might vary with foraging strategies.

I’m also investigating how animals use olfactory cues in recognition, such as identifying other individuals such as kin or identifying nests or burrows.
